Sodas

Coca Cola and Pepsi are 2 of the biggest companies which produce soft drinks which we call soda or pop. People drink these for the taste, caffiene, or even the sugar rush you can get from it. But what little do people realize is they are drinking a product that is terrible for our bodies. I rarely touch the stuff myself and I’m glad I don’t.

One 12oz can of this stuff contains around 10-12 teaspoons of sugar or roughly around 40 grams. Now if you drink one of these every day for a year you will be consuming about 65 pounds of sugar just from soda alone. Add that to whatever else you eat containing sugar and you get a good idea of how much excess sugar someone can consume.

On top of that sodas contain a substance called High Fructose Corn Syrup. HFCS is a popular sweetner used in many food products you can buy today, anything from sodas to bread. Companies like to use this because it is cheaper and is easy to use. Good for them, but bad for us. HFCS has been linked to type 2 diabetes and obesity, which is why we see a rise with these 2 problems in the last decade or so.

Kids are consuming this stuff at a young age, causing more and more problems before any of these kids reach their 20s. Add on top, the sedentary lifestyle and high calorie diets. And you have the serious problem of obese and overweight people.

If these 2 things don’t make you want to start looking at what you put in your body, then I don’t know what will. You definitely don’t want to be drinking your calories anyways. It can lead to consuming more calories than you need, thus leading to weight gain.
